Currently, Ms. Villegas is actively prosecuting In re Spectranetics Corporation Securities Litigation, a securities fraud case stemming from allegations regarding the Company's illegal marketing of certain of its products. Ms. Villegas is a regular contributor to "Eyes on Wall Street," Labaton Sucharow's blog on economics, corporate governance, and other issues of interest to investors. Prior to joining Labaton Sucharow, Ms. Villegas served as the Assistant District Attorney in the Supreme Court Bureau, for the Richmond County District Attorney’s Office. During her tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Villegas took several cases to trial. Ms. Villegas began her career at King & Spalding LLP where she worked as an associate in the Intellectual Property practice group. A graduate of New York University School of Law, Ms. Villegas was the recipient of The Irving H. Jurow Achievement Award for the Study of Law, and was awarded the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Minority Fellowship. She served as the Staff Editor, and later the Notes Editor, of the Environmental Law Journal. She is fluent in Spanish. | |
